our road trip to edmonton

we have been asked numerous times if we had been to edmonton yet, and when we reply no, people are shocked - considering we've been here for more than 4 years. so we thought it would be a nice trip. so we took grandma wong and our good friend tim for the ride.
it was not a good trip. the ride was hard on Ella (3 hours each way) who had to sit in her uncomfortable car seat (imagine having to sit in an L position the entire ride) and the name DEADmonton was accurate.

we went to the 'great west edmonton mall' which we found to be old and crowded. on top of that, Canadian Idol auditions were on when we arrived. and the sights were not that impressive. we then drove through downtown to china town and visited a new community called Griesbach too (for mom's planning interest). the only real part of the trip that was nice was the ride back, we drove on a bridge across the river and our nice Greek dinner in Red Deer. the company on the trip was great, but i don't think we will be going back any time soon.

even ella wasn't impress by the sea lion show. she was more interested in her tissue.
